The Mermaid Girl

This is “The Mermaid,” written by me on December 18, 2016. The gorgeous painting is the work of Russian artist Victor Nizovtsev. ♡
Magical, mystical mermaid girl

Tell us of your ocean world

What treasures do you keep below

Deeper than man would dare to go?
Do you dream of human life

While bathed in stars on moonlit nights

Wishing you had legs to roam

To lead you from your liquid home?
What stories have you from the deep

Where dolphins dwell and fishes sleep

Are you a princess in your world

Oh fair and lovely mermaid girl?
I wish that I could hear you sing

I’m told it’s such a wondrous thing

For now the best that I can do

Is go to sleep and dream of you…

This piece called “Unbound,” was written by me on December the 16th. It’s somewhat of a departure from my standard fare because I wanted to write something to go with the stunning A.M. Lorek photo and these are the words I came up with:

There are things in life that wreak havoc on a restless soul

As they push and shove and seemingly cajole.

I tripped and stumbled winding up all bruised

That’s all it took for you to be amused.

Why is it that my hardships make you smile

When I have been here for you all the while?
I tumbled in a heap all helter skelter

And you refused to help or give me shelter.
I was dizzied, couldn’t get my footing here

You just watched and grinned and fed off all my fear.
I slipped and fell down deep into a hole

The darkness tried to prey upon my soul.
I cried out for you more than once in vain

But you were busy relishing my pain.
At last I’m finally back on solid ground

I looked but you’re just nowhere to be found.
It seems that when I’m fine and doing well

Suddenly your world becomes a private hell.

The Road to Redemption

An axe to grind

A bridge to burn
A bone to pick
A lesson to learn

Angry and bitter
Dejected and sad
Shocked and betrayed
Livid and mad

He said, she said blither blather
In the end it doesn’t matter
Preening egos on parade
No one wins in this charade

The stakes are high
The morals loose
Who’ll be next?
Duck, duck, goose…

You say his loss
Will be your gain
So how come you’re
The one in pain?

An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth
Has made you forget
An important truth

What you do to the one
You do to the other
There’s no separation
We’re all sisters and brothers

So before you start planning
Your next counterattack
Please reconsider
Because you can’t take it back

Let that ship sail
Let no harm come it’s way
It’s not up to you
To make anyone pay

Learn from the lesson
Grow through the pain
You perceive it as loss
But there’s much there to gain

Emotional anguish
Is so hard to bear
But it offers us healing
And has wisdom to share

It shows us those places within
That need healing
It puts us in touch with
Our innermost feelings

It gives us our wings
To rise above
And calls us home
To the source of love

And once those difficult
Lessons are learned
There’s no longer a need
For them to return

You’re done! You passed!
You aced it, you’re free!
Go on and rejoice
Or just simply BE.

The Narcoleptic: a little something about me.

Abstract vision, lucid dreams, daytime, nighttime, in between. Often getting pulled way under, family plans torn asunder. Music playing, voices calling, down the rabbit hole I’m falling. A deep and heavy endless fatigue, no matter what it never leaves. Creative mind, fertile ground, imagination knows no bounds. Insomnia comes with this too. The irony! Oh if you knew. Sometimes up for two days straight. No matter if it’s dark and late. Pressing on against the grain. Getting all my demons slain. Rising above, forging ahead, though I feel beholden to my bed. Taking life a day at a time ’cause things could change at the drop of a dime. No expectations or recriminations. A grateful heart in all situations.

Let (personal) Freedom Ring!

One thing I love about people is the fact that they can still surprise the heck out of me. This is why I strive to avoid forming concrete opinions about anyone. We are all changeable. Whether we do actually change or not isn’t the point. The point is that we have the option, should we so choose. I would imagine it must be pretty stuffy and uncomfortable in a pigeonhole so I try to stay out of them and I prefer to avoid the confines of well organized, compartmentalized, labeled boxes too. I need space. I need breathing room. I need the opportunity to try and fail and succeed and change my mind as often as I so choose. I reserve the right to be a million different versions of myself throughout the course of my life, to stick out like a sore thumb and to reinvent myself as often as I deem necessary. Since I like surprises, as I previously mentioned, I choose to honor your right to all of those personal choices and freedoms too. In fact, I look forward to it. Here’s to us surprising one another on a regular basis for as long as we all shall live.

Much love,

Carolyn/Yours Truly

The Wellspring Within

This piece is called “The Wellspring Within.” It was written by me two days ago. I hope you enjoy it. ⚘
There is a wellspring within each of us from which all good things flow. It’s the very essence of Life, the Creator, and All That Is. We have only to learn how to tap into it and then all that it has to offer is ours. This is why time spent with Self in silence is a sacred duty. Love and knowledge of Self are above all things and once that’s established, all else flows. When our hearts are filled to the brim with love of Self, it is then that we can pour it out unto all the Earth and it’s people. I can’t tell you how wonderful a feeling one such as this is. I can only encourage you to pursue it for yourselves and I dearly hope that you do because your eternal “you,” is so very worth it. Blessings to you and may it be so.

May it Be So…

*Dedicated to all beings*
Beautiful friends, I try to veer away from the overly mushy side, but sometimes when the feeling is there, I have no choice but to honor it. At this time, I wish to remind each of you how wonderful you are, exactly in this moment, without changing a single thing. Your soul and your energy are recognized and acknowledged by the Divine presence that orchestrates this world and you are so loved by all. That unique essence that makes you ‘you’ is precious and is to be celebrated and appreciated. So, wherever you are, whoever you are, please know that I’m aware of that and I honor your presence here in this world. May you be forever wrapped in the warm, loving glow of our creator, may you know the full value of your worth, may there be peace and contentment in your heart always, and may you know what a blessing you are upon this Earth. I’m very glad you’re here.

With love,

Carolyn ♡

The Joy of the Season by Carolyn Glackin

The joy of the season is not found in the hustle and bustle of a harried throng of shoppers.

It isn’t heard in the noisy crunch of gift wrap.

It’s not present in the endless drone of the snow plow,

Nor even the very merry jingle jangle of sleigh bells.

The joy, and the very heart of the season can be seen in the sparkling eyes of our loved ones

It’s felt in the hugs from friends and relatives we don’t get to see nearly enough of and don’t want to let go of.

It’s present in the holy stillness of a silent night as we gaze in wonder at a starry sky, the twinkling lights on the trees, and the joy and merriment of little ones as they take it all in for the first time.

It’s in those spaces, the in between moments of stillness when we’re momentarily transfixed by something that takes our breath away and causes us to feel like a tiny presence in an endless, magical universe; that, for me, is where the presence of Christ is felt and I’m grateful for those moments every time they come my way.

The real blessing is that these holy moments aren’t limited to one day on the calendar in December, rather they come at undetermined times all throughout the year when we remember to be silent, and still, and grateful.

May the joy of the season be upon you and may it live in your heart always.

Merry Christmas!

I offer up this poem to all people regardless of beliefs or religion because it’s my belief that while Jesus was a man, Christ is not. I have utmost respect for Jesus and all beings who came to remind us of our eternal truth but Christ is something else. It’s a level of consciousness attainable by all humans and Jesus, as well as many other way showers, did indeed attain it. So, in that sense, we are all invited and included in sharing in the spirit of Christ because it’s for all of us.

Some day, someone’s going to come along and realize how AMAZING you are.

That’s right, and one of these days, someone’s gonna look you over from head to toe, from top to bottom, and from left to right; and that someone is gonna realize that every single part of you is FLAWLESS.
Some day SOON, someone’s gonna take a look inside that head of yours and figure out that ALL of your thoughts are valid and meaningful and important.
And then, someone’s gonna get acquainted with that heart and soul of yours and realize how damn LOVABLE it all is and that the ground you walk upon and the space you dwell in is HOLY and SACRED.
Then finally, someone’s gonna figure out that this whole time, right from the very beginning, you’ve been nothing but amazing and beautiful, awesome and intelligent, kind and creative, fabulous and fantastic, wild and wonderful, and precious and divine and so incredibly LOVED!!
And you know what? I really hope that SOMEONE is YOU. You’ve got to be YOUR own SOMEONE first!

Here’s To…

This is “Here’s To…” Written by me on this day of December the 10th, 2016.

*Apologies for the crazy way this is formatted. I didn’t type it up this way and am unable to correct it, though I’ve tried.
Here’s To…
Here’s to the Light souls

Shining and bold

Pouring their love out

In rivers of gold.
Here’s to the soft souls

Who treat us with care

It does me such good

To know that they’re there.
Here’s to the poets

Who make our hearts feel

And remind us that love

Is so very real.
Here’s to the sad ones

With tears in their eyes

Who waken our souls

With their mournful cries.
Here’s to the hateful

Whose spirits are grim

They remind us to never

Let our own lights grow dim.
Here’s to the the wanderers

Who love to roam

For they know that the heart

Is our one true home.
Here’s to the different, the wild, and the free

Those glorious souls who have learned how to BE!
And now here’s to me

And also to you

May we always be blessed

In all that we do. ♡
