End of Summer

End of summer

Crimson hues
Will take the place
Of cerulean blues
Instead of flowers
Golden leaves
Will find their way
Down from the trees
Zephyr winds
Will toss our hair
Reminding us
That autumn’s near
No more flip flops
Shorts or tees
We’ll soon need sweaters
For the breeze
Autumnal nights
Will bring a chill
Forest creatures
Quiet and still
Sights and sounds
And smells of fall
Delight the senses
Of one and all
Crisp, red apples
Pumpkin pie
Crackling fire
Warm and dry
A time when families
Come together
Telling stories
In chilly weather
Fresh brewed coffee
In our hands
While we dream
Of holiday plans
Gone the heat
Of summer days
Enjoy the fall now
While it stays.
